Tom Brady’s Harper Murray hug with daughter Vivian sparks questions as Nebraska volleyball moment goes viral online
Tom Brady’s friendly hug with Nebraska volleyball star Harper Murray has drawn plenty of attention online after the NFL legend attended a Cornhuskers match with his 13-year-old daughter, Vivian. The Huskers faced UNLV on August 29 at T-Mobile Arena, and Brady watched from the front row with his daughter.
Speaking to reporters, she said, “I know him through some Michigan connections and the football program and administration there. “I know his daughter’s into the sport, so I’m sure that’s how he got into it and grew a love for the game,” Murray said. The moment spread quickly on social media, although there is no evidence that the interaction was anything beyond a friendly meeting. Brady was in Las Vegas with Vivian for Nebraska’s opening match at the Players Era Volleyball Showcase. Images and video of the meeting later circulated widely online. Murray explained that connection after Nebraska’s win.
Murray walked over to Brady and Vivian before the game and greeted them, leading to a warm embrace that was captured on camera. Before the match, Murray came over to say hello. The Nebraska star first shook Brady’s hand before the two shared a hug.
Murray was a first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2025, according to the University of Nebraska’s official athletics website.
Murray added that she liked seeing a major sports figure support women’s volleyball and said the Nebraska team was happy to have Brady there. She also earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in each of her first three seasons.
