Kolkata: A Metro train on the Blue Line or the North-South corridor suddenly came to a halt at Belgachhia station as passengers complained of having detected smoke in a coach on Friday afternoon.

Metro officials said the passengers were guided to another train by 4.45 pm. Eyewitnesses said the fire scare occurred around 4.35pm on a Dakshineswar-bound rake at Belgachhia metro station.“Black smoke was found emanating from a moving metro coach, creating panic and chaos among commuters,” said a commuter. “Some passengers hurriedly deboarded the train as soon as it halted at the Belgachhia station,”he said. “The affected train was sent to the carshed,” said an official.
