The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: Family members of 42-year-old property dealer Pramod Dahiya, who was shot dead outside a gym in Narela on Thursday, staged a sit-in and blocked the road on Friday.

Around 12.30 pm, Dahiya’s family members, along with acquaintances and hundreds of people from Nahri village, gathered on the Narela-Lampur Road to protest the killing. Sources said the suspects appeared to be between 20 and 25 years old. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Dahiya’s business partner had allegedly received an extortion demand of Rs 2 crore.

A case in connection with the alleged demand had already been registered in Sonipat, police said. The protesters agreed to clear the road and restore traffic following an appeal by police. A social media post, purportedly issued by the Himanshu Bhau gang, claimed responsibility for the killing. Download the TOI App.

The post, which named Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpur, claimed that Dahiya had earlier been warned on the phone but he “thought that having a licensed weapon would save his life.
