Hyderabad: Criticising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and chief minister A Revanth Reddy over the Congress govt’s alleged failure to fulfil its promises in Telangana , BRS working president KT Rama Rao said there was a need for another movement. Targeting Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign, KTR said the Congress leader should come to Telangana and listen to the actual concerns of students. Come to Telangana and listen to the voice of Telangana’s students,” KTR said.
“Rahul Gandhi is changing colours from state to state. You are talking about ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ across India. I demand that you come to Telangana and listen to the problems of our students. You will hear the real ‘goonj’ of students here.
“If you do not come, we will come to Delhi,” he said. Referring to youth protests in Delhi, KTR said the Centre had been forced to take note of the issue when young people took to streets. Speaking at a youth conference, ‘Yuva Sadassu’, held in Karimnagar on Saturday, he questioned the Congress leader over his promise to provide two lakh jobs every year in Telangana and alleged that the Congress leadership had disappeared after securing votes.
He also questioned the status of promises to establish a Youth Commission, introduce 75% reservation for locals in private companies, provide scooters to college-going girls, offer loans of ₹10 lakh to youth, and provide ₹4,000 unemployment assistance. The BRS leader said that even after completing 1,000 days in office, Congress govt had failed to present a clear action plan for providing jobs to unemployed youth. KTR recalled that KCR had launched the Telangana statehood movement from Karimnagar.
He said major political leaders had been forced to bow before the power of youth movements and that the struggles of students and young people had changed the course of history. KTR questioned the Congress govt over its pre-election promises, including providing two lakh jobs every year. He also asked whether fee reimbursement was being provided properly to students. “There are no notifications, only looting is going on. There is no job calendar; a scam calendar is running in the state,” he alleged. He accused govt of deliberately delaying job notifications while unemployed youth continued to wait for recruitment opportunities.
