Delhi government cleared project to build 61 km road corridor along najafgarh drain Delhi govt cleared a ₹453.95-crore project to build a nearly 61-km-long road corridor along both sides of the Najafgarh drain, a move Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said would ease congestion and significantly improve connectivity between rural pockets and the city. The project involves constructing a 2-lane road along the drain, creating an alternative intra-city route aimed at reducing pressure on arterial roads, cutting travel time and fuel consumption, and lowering vehicular emissions. A 5.94-km stretch will be built on the left bank from Jhatikra Bridge to Chhawla Bridge, according to officials. From Chhawla to Basaidarapur, roads will come up on both sides of the drain over 27.415 km, taking the total developed length across both banks to 60.77 km.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Finance Expenditure Committee chaired by the chief minister on Tuesday.
Connectivity to Gurugram’s Sectors 104 and 110 is also expected to improve.
The govt said the project will benefit both urban and rural areas, connecting Dhansa to Basaidarapur and improving access for residents of Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri, Najafgarh, Bijwasan, Chhawla, Goyla Dairy, Dwarka, Baprola, Nilothi, Paschim Vihar and Rajouri Garden, apart from IGI Airport .
