Amns india encroaches on 6.25 lakh square metres of government land says govt AMNS India encroachment over 6.25 lakh govt land: Govt Times News Network Gandhinagar : The state govt said in the assembly on Tuesday that Arcellor Mittal Nippon Steel India encroached upon 6.25 lakh square metres of govt land, and that the govt initiated proceedings to recover a sum of Rs 106.28 crore from the company. In a written reply, the govt said that 9 cases were filed by the govt in this regard. In this case, the encroachments were for up to 30 years, but no action is being taken. Earlier reporting noted: In a written reply, the govt said that, as of December 31, 2025, the DPR was at the finalisation stage and “after finalisation of the DPR, and after approvals of the state and Union govt, the project is planned to be completed in 8 years.” Congress MLA Amit Chavda sought to know what amount of govt land the company encroached upon and the steps taken by the govt in this regard. Speaking to reporters outside the assembly, Chavda alleged that while the govt was proactively razing down encroachments by poor citizens, no such action was taken against big companies. “The govt admitted in successive sessions of the assembly that the company encroached upon its land.
