A 15-year-old boy died after a portion of the ceiling collapsed on him while he was sleeping

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: A 15-year-old boy died after a portion of the ceiling collapsed on him while he was sleeping at his house in northeast Delhi’s Welcome area early Sunday morning. His twin brother, who was also sleeping in the room, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

During investigation, police also recovered five live .315-bore cartridges from the deceased’s possession.

The information was received at Welcome police station around 7am after the boy was taken to Kailash Deepak Hospital in Anand Vihar by his family, police said. Doctors declared him brought dead. The incident, however, is believed to have occurred around 5am. The circumstances under which the ammunition came to be in his possession are being examined.

Police and forensic teams inspected the house and collected evidence. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway. Cops are also examining the condition of the ceiling and the circumstances leading to the collapse.
