Chennai: Chennai police are planning to issue an Interpol blue corner notice against businessman N Prakash Kannaiah, who is believed to be in the UK, and bring him back to Chennai, in connection with the child rape cases involving Gem Granites chairman R Veeramani.
Police have also frozen a bank account belonging to Prakash, which holds a balance of ₹24 crore and obtained his transaction records from public and private sector banks over the past three years.
Police sources said the proposed notice would help authorities seek assistance from law enforcement agencies in the UK to locate Prakash and gather information about his movements. A Look Out Circular (LOC) has already been issued against him after he failed to appear for questioning. Unlike a red corner notice, a blue corner notice is meant to collect information about a person during an investigation and does not seek their arrest.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has uncovered financial transactions between Prakash, who served as an adviser to the Gem Group of Companies, and firms owned by Veeramani. A special Pocso court in Chennai recently dismissed Prakash’s anticipatory bail petition following summons issued by the SIT.
