Teenager Allegedly Steals Grandmother’s Gold for Boyfriend

In Ahmedabad, an 18-year-old woman reportedly took gold ornaments from her grandmother’s household locker and gave them to her boyfriend, who needed money, according to police reports. After the father of the teenager threatened to involve law enforcement if the jewellery was not returned, she allegedly confessed to the theft. The father subsequently filed a complaint with the Ghatlodia police, accusing both his daughter and her boyfriend of breach of trust and cheating.

The theft came to light after the family found that three tolas of gold, worth around Rs 3 lakh, were missing from the locker at their Ghatlodia home. The family had shifted to Ghatlodia from Banaskantha after his wife’s death, according to the complaint filed by the woman’s 56-year-old father. On April 2, his son opened the locker and found the ornaments missing.

The complainant said his elderly mother trusted her granddaughter and would ask her to keep or remove jewellery from the locker. She reportedly told her family that she had been in a relationship with Jalam Singh alias Tinaji Thakor for around one-and-a-half years. She allegedly said he needed money and that she had taken the gold ornaments from the locker and given them to him.

The family initially believed the ornaments had been misplaced and searched the house for nearly a month. He lives with his mother, son and two daughters and runs a grocery shop. the teenager allegedly showed little interest, raising suspicion among her siblings While the family searched for the jewellery. Family members questioned her, but she allegedly gave evasive replies.
