Varanasi: Quick action by Gopiganj police, Dial-112 and fire service personnel helped in saving two men trapped inside a well in Ghatampur village in Bhadohi district on Sunday.
Following the successful operation, Bhadohi SP Abhinav Tyagi said police received information around 8 am that two people had fallen into a well in Ghatampur, under Gopiganj police station limits and a team rushed to the spot where Shiv Kumar Vishwakarma, 52, had entered the well to check why water was not getting pumped out of the tubewell. Seeing his father in distress, Kailash Vishwakarma, 30, entered the well but soon began feeling unwell too. Dial-112 PRV-5528, Gopiganj police and fire service team, with support from villagers, launched a rescue operation and brought both men out safely.

The well had remained covered for a long time, leading to gas accumulation inside and Shiv Kumar fell unconscious. He alerted nearby residents, who informed emergency services.
