Medicine trader Vineet Manocha (63) found murdered with his throat slit at his flat in Kanpur
Kanpur: Police arrested two men on Sunday evening after shooting them in the legs during an encounter in connection with the murder of 63-year-old medicine trader Vineet Manocha in the Kalyanpur police station area. CCTV footage from Manocha’s residence showed the two accused secretly entering the house at 9.38 pm using a key while Manocha was away. Manocha returned home at around 10.58 pm, while the suspects were seen leaving the premises at approximately 11.28 pm. Manocha’s son, Subrat, returned to the flat with his wife around 4.30 am and found his father lying in a pool of blood.
One of the accused, Vishal Gautam, was employed as a domestic servant at Manocha’s apartment, according to police. Investigators suspect he orchestrated the murder with the help of an aide, allegedly to avenge a grudge against Manocha, who often scolded him. Police arrived at the scene and scanned the CCTV footage, which showed the two suspects entering and leaving the premises.

Additional DCP (West) Rajesh Kumar Pandey said the accused were identified during the investigation through CCTV footage, statements of the complainant and witnesses, and other evidence. Download the TOI App.
