Kanpur: A 60-year-old man was killed after a speeding car allegedly ran him over and dragged him for around 10 metres in Hansapurwa village under Tirwa Kotwali in Kannauj district on Sunday morning. The victim, identified as Lalaram, was sitting after relieving himself when the car, coming from the Khairnagar side, rammed into him, causing fatal injuries, according to police. Tirwa Kotwali inspector Sanjay Kumar Shukla said police were holding talks with the family members and that appropriate legal action would be taken against the driver. He died on the spot. Police rushed to the scene after being informed of the accident and took the body into custody. Download the TOI App.
However, family members gathered at the spot and demanded action against the errant driver before allowing the body to be sent for postmortem examination.
