MAHARAJGANJ: Six policemen have been suspended from a police outpost in UP’s Maharajganj after a video emerged online showing a man, who was not associated with the outpost, cutting a birthday cake inside the premises, police said. The inquiry found prima facie evidence of indiscipline and negligence towards official duties, police said. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry, officials said.
The action was taken over alleged indiscipline and negligence of duty. Those suspended are Adda Bazar outpost in-charge Sub-Inspector Akhilesh Yadav, Head Constable Vikas Kumar Gaur and constables Prabhav Gaur, Abhimanyu Kharwar, Ramkrit Yadav and Prashant Kumar. The video purportedly shows the man cutting the cake while several policemen, including the sub-inspector, were present nearby. Maharajganj Superintendent of Police Shakti Mohan Awasthi took immediate cognisance of the video and directed the Nichlaul Circle Officer to conduct an inquiry. Download the TOI App.
