MANDYA: A 58-year-old woman was killed and four others injured when a speeding pickup truck collided with a car from behind on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru National Highway near Tavarekere Gate on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Sudha Jain, 58, a native of Gujarat who was residing in Bengaluru. The pickup truck was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the accident occurred, according to the police. Following the accident, the driver of the pickup truck fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind, police said. The impact was severe, leaving Sudha Jain with fatal injuries. The accident was captured on the dashboard camera of another vehicle travelling along the highway. Bellur police seized both vehicles and registered a case. Download the TOI App.
She was travelling with her family from Shravanabelagola towards Bengaluru.
Four persons were injured in the accident and were shifted to Adichunchanagiri Hospital at BG Nagar for treatment and are out of danger.
