Mumbai witnessed two fatal accidents on Monday morning in Worli. The first incident involved a 60-year-old woman who was struck by the left rear wheel of a BEST bus after she exited a taxi at a traffic signal as it turned green. Shortly after, a water tanker hit and killed a 62-year-old woman nearby, marking a grim start to the day in the area. Both incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding road safety in urban settings.

The 60-year-old woman, Vanmala Sabale, was on her way to her workplace when the accident happened around 11.25 am. The 62-year-old woman, Savitridevi Chauhan, was returning home from a nearby bank when she was knocked down around 11.30 am. The tanker driver, Harivansh Ramchet (30) was detained and was would be taken for a medical examination, said the police.

She was identified by a passenger who was travelling in the BEST bus,” a police officer said. Investigators are also examining the CCTV footage of the area,” a police official said. A case of negligence causing death and rash and negligent driving would be registered, said the police.
