Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Four frontline employees of the Nanded division of South Central Railway have been awarded the Employee of the Month Award for July for their alertness and swift action in averting potential railway accidents.
On July 19, while undertaking monsoon night patrol, Gaurav Kumar detected a defective weld fracture between Amanwadi and Jaulka around 2.40am. At Purna on July 20, Sagar Lonare, noticed an unusually hot coal-loaded wagon emitting a burning smell. On July 28, Shaikh Afroz Sk Khajamiya detected a crack in a weld while on keyman duty and temporarily secured the joint with a wooden block until repairs could be carried out.
The next day, Manoj Parmanand, serving as a keyman, safeguarded the line between Basmat and Malselu after a weld breakage was reported, maintaining protection until engineering staff arrived. Officials said each played a critical role in ensuring safe train operations by promptly detecting track defects or other safety threats. “The vigilance of four employees reflects the strong safety culture in Nanded division and will motivate others to prioritise safe train operations,” said SCR general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastav. Railway officials said the awards recognise the crucial role played by frontline staff in maintaining safety across the network and preventing accidents through timely intervention.
The awardees are track maintainers Gaurav Kumar , Manoj Parmanand and Shaikh Afroz Sk Khajamiya, and senior goods train manager Sagar Lonare. He immediately protected the section using red signals and detonators, preventing any danger to train movement. Download the TOI App.
