BRS working president KT Rama Rao receives medical treatment at Telangana Bhavan after alleging police high-handedness during a protest near the assembly, in Hyderabad on Monday
KTR alleged that the police behaved in an extremely aggressive manner and said their treatment of the women legislators was deplorable. He said this reflected their political culture. The BRS working president said it was ironic for Revanth Reddy to speak about assembly traditions and values, given his own alleged conduct and statements. KTR said the BRS would continue its fight until action was taken against those responsible for the alleged attack on the women legislators.
He alleged that the CM was attempting to divert public attention from the incident by raising unrelated issues and attributing statements to BRS MLC T Madhusudhan that he allegedly did not make. He also recalled instances in which KCR had defended Sonia Gandhi when BJP chief ministers allegedly made inappropriate remarks about her.
He recalled an earlier incident involving DK Aruna, saying that when she was hurt by certain remarks, former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had instructed BRS leaders to apologise. Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, KTR criticised the Congress govt, saying that while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi speaks about overcoming male dominance in politics and encouraging women to come forward, the Congress govt in Telangana was allegedly allowing women legislators to be attacked.
