Agra: Unidentified persons broke into a judge’s official residence at a high security area of Mathura district and allegedly decamped with his licensed pistol and wife’s jewellery along with cash on Sept 4, police said Monday, adding that the accused were yet to be traced.
Following a police complaint by the wife of the additional chief judicial magistrate an FIR was registered under BNS 305 (theft in a dwelling house) against unknown persons at Sadar Bazar police station on Sunday.
A probe has been initiated, police said.
She added that they had locked their house around 2pm on Sept 4, and the break-in came to light two days later when around 11.15am she spoke to a delivery boy and learnt that their house lock was missing. DSP (Mathura) Praveen Kumar Tiwari, told TOI on Monday: “On Sept 6, Sadar Bazar SHO was informed about a theft at judges’ compound, possibly between Sept 4 and 6. In the FIR, the complainant stated that the theft took place at their official residence in Judges’ Colony when they were away in Rohtak, Haryana, for a family function. On further inquiry, she was informed that the latch was broken and she realised that someone had trespassed into their residence. Senior officers inspected the place. Our field units along with dog squad teams have collected evidence.”
