New Delhi: Delhi Police solved two unrelated murder cases reported from separate areas in the capital, they said Monday.
In the first incident, police from northeast district cracked the murder of 19-year-old factory worker Sahil within four hours of receiving information from JPC Hospital, where he was declared brought dead with stab injuries on Sept 6. Cops from Jafrabad police station registered an FIR and launched a probe, leading to the apprehension of the victim’s co-worker, also named Sahil (21), along with a 15-year-old child in conflict with the law. In the second incident, a man named Pawan Kumar Yadav (45), a helper at a BSES office and building caretaker in Bagdola Village, was brutally murdered by fruit seller Bhupender Pal alias Nanhe (24). After a decomposed body wrapped in plastic kattas was found in a drain in Dwarka Sector-8 on Aug 31, police analysed extensive CCTV footage to identify the victim and track a suspicious loading tempo. Following the crime, the accused used Pawan’s account to buy clothes, dumped the body on Aug 27, and fled to Uttar Pradesh.
Interrogation revealed that the accused harboured a grudge against the deceased over an abusive comment made on social media. The murder weapon, a knife, was recovered. It emerged that Bhupender killed Pawan to seek revenge after the victim had locked him and his girlfriend in a room, prompting a public assault. Police arrested Bhupender from Kasganj there, recovered the tempo, market purchases, and clothes worn during the crime.
