Lucknow: Six police officers, including the head of the Adda Bazar police outpost in Maharajganj district, have been suspended following the circulation of a video on social media. The footage allegedly depicts a birthday celebration held by an outsider on the premises of the police outpost. The incident has drawn significant attention, prompting immediate action from the authorities to address the situation.
The incident relates to the Adda Bazar police outpost under Nautanwa police station, according to the information available. Police officials said the preliminary inquiry indicated indiscipline and negligence towards official responsibilities on the part of the personnel. The action was taken by SP Shakti Mohan Awasthi after the video came to the notice of senior police officers. The SP has also assigned a detailed inquiry into the matter to the circle officer (CO), Nichlaul. A video circulating on social media purportedly shows a young man cutting a birthday cake at the police outpost. The cake can be seen placed on the bonnet of a car, while several people, including police personnel, are present around him. The presence of an outsider inside the police outpost for a birthday celebration triggered concern after the video was widely circulated. Following a preliminary inquiry, the SP ordered the suspension of six personnel posted at the outpost.
