Ahmedabad: On Monday, Sheetal Devi advanced to the finals of the para women’s compound individual event, securing a medal for India at the World Archery Para Series (Stage III). This achievement marks a significant milestone for the athlete in the ongoing competition.
In an all-Indian semifinal, the armless archer from Jammu defeated Sarita 145-143 to book her place in the gold clash, where she will face Aizada Seidan of Kazakhstan. In the visually impaired 1 category, Tanvi Ingale settled for a silver after losing 4-6 to Cyprus’ Christos Misos in the final match. In the para compound individual events, Sarita, who lost to Sheetal in the semis, will compete for bronze in the women’s category, while Toman Kumar will compete for bronze in the men’s category.
India were also assured of a string of medals across recurve, compound and W1 events. In the para recurve women’s individual event, Bhawna and Rajshri Dhanraj Rathod will face each other in the bronze medal match, guaranteeing another medal for India. Swati Chaudhary will also compete for bronze in the W1 women’s individual event.
Meanwhile, on Monday, India won seven medals on the third day of the event at the Sabarmati Riverfront .
