Club Car Wash, the company backed by the Kansas City Chiefs star, is now at the center of a proposed $2 million employee class action in Texas. Kelce became an ownership partner in Club Car Wash in 2021, adding the fast-growing company to a business portfolio that extends well beyond his NFL career. Travis Kelce ’s business empire is facing an unexpected spotlight away from the football field. The case does not accuse Kelce of wrongdoing, but his ownership connection has placed the NFL star’s investment under fresh scrutiny as the dispute unfolds. His connection with the brand has also included charitable efforts linked to his foundation, Eighty-Seven & Running.
The lawsuit claims Club Car Wash managers told employees during an April 28 Microsoft Teams meeting that bonuses covered by their employment agreements would be paid at 25% of the amounts otherwise owed.
Reeves claims the company failed to pay the full performance bonus he says was promised under his employment agreement. Reeves was terminated roughly two hours after his lawyer later contacted the company’s vice president of operations about the dispute, according to the complaint. Now, Club Car Wash is dealing with allegations from former employee Tristen Cole Reeves, who filed a lawsuit in Bexar County District Court. Reeves alleges that he then tried to obtain his employment documents but found his company access restricted. His attorney sent a preservation letter to Club Car Wash the following day. Those claims remain allegations. The court has not ruled that Club Car Wash withheld wages improperly or that Reeves was wrongfully terminated. The proposed class has also not been certified.
