The combined property and water tax dues listed by MCC amount to Rs 57.5 crore. MCC has published the list of top property tax defaulters up to the first week of Aug 2026 and water bill defaulters up to June 30. The top property tax defaulters across nine zones owe Rs 23.5 crore to MCC, with Zone 6 accounting for the highest share of arrears at Rs 7.8 crore. The civic body has also released a list of 900 top water tax defaulters, covering domestic, non-domestic and commercial consumers. The 900 defaulters cumulatively owe Rs 34 crore, comprising Rs 20.5 crore in principal dues and Rs 13.5 crore in accumulated interest, according to MCC data. Zone 7 has the highest water tax arrears at Rs 5.9 crore. MCC commissioner MK Savitha said the corporation had so far achieved 65% of its tax collection target, adding that efforts were on to step up revenue collection and recover outstanding dues.
