Minister Warns of Penalties for Neglected Vacant Lots
Kolkata: Agnimitra Paul, the state’s urban development and municipal affairs minister, has issued a warning regarding vacant plots that have become neglected and hazardous. Owners of these properties will face substantial penalties attached to their property tax bills if they do not address the accumulation of garbage and stagnant water, which have created ideal conditions for mosquito breeding.
Paul made this announcement during an awareness rally focused on dengue prevention and cleanliness in the Chaulpatty area of Baguiati, part of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation. He also revealed that the statewide cleanliness and dengue prevention drive, initially set for three days, has been extended for an additional three days starting Tuesday.
“Your negligence is resulting in people in your neighbourhood getting affected with dengue. This is not acceptable. You must keep your own premises clean; otherwise, we will impose a huge penalty, which will be attached to your property tax bill,” Paul stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
