Gujarat Assembly building Gujarat Assembly Session Gujarat Assembly building Gujarat Assembly Session Gandhinagar : Gujarat govt has forwarded seven bills to the Gujarat assembly secretariat, and these are likely to be introduced during the three-day monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha beginning Wednesday.

Govt is also set to table the Gujarat Livestock Feed, Poultry Feed and Mineral Mixture (Regulation of Production, Storage, Distribution, Sale and Quality Control) Bill, 2026. The Ease of Doing Business Bill proposes amendments to the Gujarat Medical Council Act, 1967; Gujarat Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2013; Right to Public Services Act, 2013; Gujarat Shops and Establishments Act, 2019; and Gujarat MSME Facilitation Act, 2019. To implement recommendations of the GST Council and ensure alignment with the Central GST framework, the state govt has also proposed amendments to the Gujarat Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. As the assembly was not in session, the state had promulgated the Gujarat Prevention of Fragmentation and Consolidation of Holdings (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, and the Gujarat Land Revenue (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026.

The changes are intended to harmonise state GST provisions with updated central laws and ensure uniform implementation. Among the main proposals is the Ease of Doing Business Bill, which seeks to reduce compliance requirements by amending five existing laws. Govt is also expected to introduce a rent bill aimed at balancing the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords. Another proposed legislation seeks to bring govt-aided secondary and higher secondary schools under the ambit of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Act. The proposed law aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and quality control of livestock and poultry feed, mineral mixtures and compound feed ingredients. Govt now plans to replace these ordinances with bills during the upcoming session. Download the TOI App.
