Satellite house burgled, Rs 3.6L stolen — Ahmedabad

A masked Indian thief slips into a brightly lit home interior, suggesting a nighttime burglary and theft of money in a residential break-in scene.

Ahmedabad : A govt employee’s home in Satellite was allegedly burgled on Monday while she and her husband were at work, with gold and silver ornaments and cash worth Rs 3.6 lakh stolen, according to a complaint lodged with Satellite police. The complainant, a 35-year-old junior clerk in the education department, told police that both she and her husband had left home for work in the morning. When she returned around 6.45pm, she found the main door unlocked. She estimated the value of the gold ornaments at about Rs 3.3 lakh and the silver items at around Rs 20,000.

Upon entering the house, she discovered that belongings kept in an iron safe and a wooden cupboard had been ransacked and scattered. After alerting neighbours, she informed the police and conducted a preliminary check of the missing items.

Police said the burglary is suspected to have occurred between 10.30am and 6.45pm when the couple was away. Satellite police have registered a case against an unidentified person and launched an investigation.
