As per Gulf News reports, the dog disappeared from the Al Mushrif area on July 3. Reward increased to Dh15,000 Initially, the family had offered a Dh5,000 (nearly ₹129,101) reward. But later, it was increased to Dh15,000 after a Dubai company, Gulf Invest, offered additional support. The family says they have been searching for him almost every day but he is nowhere to be found. The family says the reward is being offered without questions for information leading to Jiku’s safe return.
It’s been nine-weeks since and the family continues its search with the help of volunteers, flyers and social-media appeals. The search has expanded from the immediate neighbourhood to several surrounding areas. However, none has yet led to Jiku. One particularly notable lead involved a witness who reportedly saw a small white dog being carried by a man near an ADNOC station. Other witnesses gave similar descriptions, but the man and dog could not subsequently be located.
