Railway officials said converting Bateshwar into a crossing station would allow trains to cross or overtake each other when required, facilitating smoother operations on the route. The upgrade is expected to improve train crossing and overtaking facilities on the section and increase operational capacity. Bateshwar station, located between Bah and Fatehabad, will get two loop lines of 750m each, a high-level platform, station building and an electronic interlocking building. Modern signalling and electronic interlocking systems will also be installed, while overhead equipment will be modified to accommodate the new loop lines. Passenger facilities planned under the project include development of the circulating area, water tank, borewell and pump house, besides facilities for persons with disabilities. The upgrade is also expected to improve rail access to Bateshwar, a religious and tourist destination situated along the Yamuna. The area is known for its ancient Shiva temples and the Bateshwar cattle fair. Bateshwar also has an association with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ancestral roots.
