Two motorcyclists were killed on Wednesday after a heavy iron load, loosely secured to a truck

Two motorcyclists were killed on Wednesday after a heavy iron load, loosely secured to a truck travelling on the Madurai-Dindigul highway, slipped off and fell on them as they rode alongside the vehicle.

Sholavandan police have registered a case and launched a search for the heavy vehicle and its driver involved in the accident.

The two were travelling on a two-wheeler along the highway when a large iron object allegedly fell from an unidentified heavy vehicle moving ahead of them, according to police. The object struck their motorcycle, causing them to lose control and crash. On receiving information, police rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies and sent them to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai for postmortem examination.
