Kochi : A 32-year-old film production crew member died after reportedly suffering an electric shock while carrying out electrical work at a film location in Edayar on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 1.45pm at a godown near the Edayar post office, according to the Binanipuram police. Vishnu was taken to a hospital in Pathalam around 1.55pm where he died. Police registered a case under Section 194 of BNSS for unnatural death. The accused were Shajahan J, 51, of Thiruvananthapuram, and Manowar Hussain, 28, from Assam. The duo was found carrying two backpacks near the South End foot-over-bridge on Platform 1 after Train No 22644 Shalimar Express arrived at the station. Two held with 16.9kg ganja: As part of Operation Toofan in Tripunithura, two people were arrested on Wednesday with 16.9kg of ganja allegedly brought for sale in the city. The arrested persons were Shaheer P Y, 23, of Ponekkara, Ernakulam, and Mehboob Murshid, of Murshidabad, West Bengal.

The inquest procedures are under way and the body will be handed over to relatives once the procedures are complete, according to the police. The authorities said inspections on trains and at railway stations would be intensified to prevent the transportation of narcotic substances. A joint team of the RPF crime intelligence branch, Thiruvananthapuram, and Dansaf conducted the inspection and found the ganja concealed in the bags. The accused had allegedly brought the contraband from Vijayawada and planned to sell it in Ernakulam and nearby areas. Hill Palace police seized the contraband from the boot of a car parked near Irumpanam. The ganja was packed in eight packets. Download the TOI App.
