India Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2026 is aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision
Pune: The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), in partnership with the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), convened the inaugural India Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2026 on Wednesday in the city. Centered around the theme ‘Advancing Sustainability Through Chemistry’, the one-day national platform brought together prominent scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how chemical sciences can accelerate the nation’s clean transition and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The forum focused on translating laboratory research into real-world industrial solutions, advancing green chemistry, and fostering cross-sector collaborations to tackle critical challenges like climate change, resource efficiency, and low-carbon manufacturing. Reflecting on the urgency of the gathering, Dr BLV Prasad, chief scientist at NCL Pune, emphasised the global nature of environmental challenges during his keynote address, stating, “Climate change doesn’t need a passport or a visa. The gathering marked the beginning of what the RSC envisions as a flagship annual effort to connect scientific research with societal and environmental impact across India.
