Prayagraj : A 28-year-old man was arrested by Pratapgarh police on Tuesday night for allegedly running an illegal firecracker manufacturing and storage unit, police said. Police seized five ‘Fanta’ firecrackers, one ‘Kurkuri’, seven party poppers, 2,650 ‘Mirchi’ (small string) firecrackers, a weighing scale, an iron sieve and five metal pans (taslas) during the operation. The recovered material was rendered unusable as per established procedures, police said. Hamza was operating the unit without a valid licence, according to the police. The accused — Mohd Hamza of Maghi Chaingarh — was found in possession of a large quantity of firecrackers and equipment used in their manufacture and storage. The licence for the facility had expired and had not been renewed. Based on the recovery, an FIR has been registered against the accused and further legal proceedings are underway.
