A seven-seater car caught fire on the Naveen Ganga bridge in Shuklaganj, Kanpur, late Tuesday night. The four occupants of the vehicle managed to escape the flames without injury. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The vehicle, which was travelling from Unnao to Kanpur, allegedly caught fire due to a short circuit, according to police. Balu Ghat outpost in charge Arun Kumar Tripathi said all four occupants were safe and police were trying to clear the congestion. The occupants reportedly broke open a window and exited the car. Police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot after receiving information and doused the fire. Download the TOI App.
The burnt vehicle also caused a traffic snarl on the bridge on Wednesday morning.
