He also said he had no access to formal cricket coaching for a long time and learned the game from his brothers. Rashid is not a big turner of the ball. Instead, he puts batters under pressure with his speed through the air, like his bowling idol Shahid Afridi, while keeping a stump-to-stump line. His main weapon is an accurate googly, while he has several variations. As a batter, Rashid can clear the boundary late in an innings and has helped turn modest totals into match-winning ones for his teams. However, he did not always have a proper bat to practise with. “For us (Rashid and his brothers) it was very hard to to buy the bat at that particular time. “What we used to do is just to grab the piece of wood and then trying to make the handle of that like you know by cutting it. “I learned the game by just watching my brothers play at home. They’re playing cricket and you’re watching them and then you’re saying, ‘Okay, that’s how you hold the bat. That’s how you play the shot,'” the Afghanistan leg-spinner added. “My brothers, they were all leg spinners as well. They could bowl leg spin and and that’s how I understood that okay I want to bowl like that.”
