Mumbai police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Amar Tikudve, a 31-year-old man, following an assault on his wife and elderly mother-in-law. The incident, which occurred recently, involved Tikudve attacking both women with a sickle, resulting in serious injuries. Authorities report that the motivation behind the assault stemmed from Tikudve’s suspicions regarding his wife’s fidelity.
Tikudve works as a delivery boy for a food platform while his 29-year-old wife, Monica, is a security guard at Powai. The couple got married in 2017 and have an eight-year-old daughter. On Sept 7, Tikudve got a sickle home. When her mother insisted, Tikudve took out the sickle and hit the 62-year-old woman in the head.

Monica called up her sister and said that her husband was threatening to kill her. Monica’s parents live in the same neighbourhood as the couple at Malad (E). Two days later, he picked a fight with his wife over her fidelity and started beating her up. She also called up a cousin who is a police officer and complained to him. He spoke to Tikudve but to no avail. Later, Monica’s mother visited the couple and asked her daughter to come and live with her. When Monica tried to save her mother, he assaulted her on her head, neck, ear and hand. Both the women started to bleed profusely. both women were rushed to a civic hospital While Tikudve left.
