Kochi : Panangad Police has seized a private bus after one of the crew members allegedly damaged the automatic barrier at the Kumbalam toll plaza and abused and threatened a toll employee.

The police said that according to the complaint, other vehicles were waiting in front of the bus at the toll gate. The bus will be handed over to the court after the completion of the required procedures, said the police. The action was taken against the bus named Sultan, which operates on the Eramalloor–Edappally route. A video of the incident was widely shared amid strong criticism against the behaviour of a section of private bus crew in the city on the social media. The driver allegedly sounded the horn repeatedly and loudly in an attempt to move the bus forward. When the toll employee questioned this, the cleaner allegedly got off the bus, abused him and issued threats. The cleaner also allegedly caused damage to the toll plaza’s automatic barrier. The accused, Anuraj of Kodungallur, is reportedly absconding. Download the TOI App.
