Lucknow: UP tourism department will roll out a 58-parameter Tourism Matrix dashboard to track infrastructure and visitor facilities at tourism destinations across the state. UP recorded the highest domestic tourist footfall in the country in 2025.

“The effort aims to identify gaps and guide future development as tourist footfall rises,” Abhijat told TOI after the meeting. “The Tourism Matrix will help us understand the requirements of individual destinations and plan development in a more focused manner,” Singh said. The department has prepared a detailed pro forma for Regional Tourist Officers to feed information into the dashboard. The parameters cover key aspects of the visitor experience, including road connectivity, transport options, lighting, passenger shelters, ramps, Hindi and English signage, tourist facilitation centres and tourism offices. The district-wise dashboard will give the department a consolidated picture of the facilities available at individual destinations and help officials identify shortcomings, assess requirements and prioritise infrastructure development.

A dry run of the dashboard was showcased before departmental minister Jaiveer Singh and additional chief secretary Amrit Abhijat in Lucknow on Wednesday.

The meeting also reviewed implementation of Uttar Pradesh Tourism Policy 2022 and investment and incentive applications. A detailed project report for the proposed Kashi-Sarnath heritage streetscape had been submitted under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, while integrated tourism development work at Sravasti had reached 76% physical progress. Around 72% of work on Vasudev Vatika near Gokul Barrage had been completed and the project was targeted for completion by Dec 15.

Department Implements Dashboard for Visitor Infrastructure Monitoring

The tourism department is set to introduce a new dashboard aimed at enhancing the assessment of visitor infrastructure across districts. This tool will shift the focus from a destination-specific evaluation to a more systematic monitoring approach.

During a recent meeting, Jaiveer Singh, the department head, reviewed the progress of various projects. He instructed executing agencies and Regional Tourist Officers to provide details on architects whose work has not met the established standards. Singh emphasized that these cases will be scrutinized, and appropriate actions will be taken where deficiencies are identified.
