SHAHJAHANPUR: A 22-year-old pregnant woman died after allegedly undergoing surgery by a doctor who was under the influence of alcohol at a private hospital in UP’s Shahjahanpur, according to PTI. Julie, a resident of Kakarha village under Puwayan police station, had gone into labour on September 8 and was being taken to a government hospital in a private ambulance. Julie delivered a baby boy during the intervening night of September 8 and 9.
Dr Firoz, who was at the hospital, called Dr KP from the city, according to the FIR. Police said it was alleged that Dr KP arrived in an inebriated condition but proceeded with the surgery. Her condition later deteriorated, following which the doctor advised her family to take her to Bareilly, Bhaware said.
The woman, identified as Julie, delivered a baby boy, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. However, the ambulance driver stopped outside a private hospital in Puwayan and suggested that her family consult a doctor. Julie died while being taken there.
