AGRA: The police in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district have arrested a man after he allegedly stalked, physically assaulted, and stabbed a 19-year-old woman in the neck and back after she rejected his romantic advances. The incident happened on Sept 9, at around 10.30am when the woman was out on a scooter to her work, according to the details. The accused was arrested on September 10. After the incident, an FIR was filed by the woman’s father at the Sikandara Police Station under BNS section 109 (1) (Attempt to murder).
As she took out her mobile phone to call her family for help, he snatched the device, threw her to the ground, and repeatedly kicked and punched her, police said. Bystanders rushed to intervene after hearing the woman’s screams, forcing Omkar to flee the scene on their two-wheeler, according to police. The survivor told police that Omkar had been stalking, harassing, and pressuring her to enter a relationship with him for nearly a year.
When she tried to fight back, Omkar attacked her with a sharpened object in the back and neck.
