Ahead of the official visit of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on the occasion of Marathwada Liberation Day on Sept 17, Deshmukh submitted a memorandum to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar divisional commissioner to raise the demand. “Crop insurance claims of 2023-24 that were rejected in the name of the 72-hour technical condition must be reconsidered immediately and eligible farmers should be compensated.
“The administration must look at the current drought-like situation in Marathwada not just as crop loss, but as a crisis engulfing farmers, workers, livestock owners and the entire rural economy,” he said. The withdrawal phase of monsoon could be ideal to perform such experiments,” he said. Deshmukh, who is the son of late CM Vilasrao Deshmukh, said that farmers should not be deprived of their rightful insurance benefits merely on technical grounds when their actual loss is evident from official govt records. The priority should be given to actual loss rather than paperwork, and all eligible claims should be approved at the earliest,” he said.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Drawing attention towards the lean phase of monsoon in many parts of Marathwada, Congress leader Dhiraj Deshmukh on Friday said that an objective village-wise survey should be carried out immediately to officially declare drought situation in the worst affected areas of the region.
