An inquiry revealed that the accused had secured a job at Kasturba Speciality Hospital in Vishrantwadi by fraudulently using the registration number and details of a registered female ayurvedic practitioner.
Officials found a 29-year-old man from Chalisgaon, Jalgaon, running a “polyclinic” in Kharadi without any valid medical degree or registration for a year. PMC officials said the crackdown is part of an ongoing drive to identify and prosecute unauthorised medical practitioners endangering public health. Pune: Two unqualified individuals posing as doctors and treating patients in Kharadi and Warje were caught during Pune Municipal Corporation’s anti-quackery drive this week. Police later registered criminal cases against them. Acting on complaints, the civic body’s Bogus Medical Practitioners Search Committee carried out inspections and zeroed in on bogus doctors at two clinics. In another raid, the PMC team visited a clinic in Warje Malwadi and found another individual practising allopathy without any medical qualification, degree or registration with the medical council. During the inspection led by zonal medical officer Dr Ganesh Damale and food inspector Ajit Bhujbal, authorities seized stamps in various doctors’ names, prescription books, medicine purchase bills and a large stock of drugs. Based on Dr Damale’s complaint, an FIR was registered at Warje Malwadi police station. The matter has been forwarded to the Food and Drug Administration for further action.
