Pune: A worker (34) at a pallet manufacturing unit in Kasarwadi died after a pallet with iron angles weighing two tonnes fell on him on the premises on Thursday morning. Amit Takawale, assistant inspector of the Dapodi police, said the pallet carrying iron angles was being shifted from one place to another using a crane around 9.30am on Thursday.
“The belt strapped to the pallet slipped from the crane’s hook, and the pallet fell on Patel, who was standing nearby,” Takawale said. Dapodi police identified the deceased as Ramkailash Patel, a Kasarwadi resident.

The officer said Patel was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to injuries during treatment. “We have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the crane operator,” the officer said. Download the TOI App.
