Pune: A 27-year-old delivery person was arrested on Wednesday on the charge of stabbing his colleague (22) to death over Rs600 the previous day in a rented room at Borate Vasti in Chandannagar. They arrested Ashish Magar of Yerawada, under Section 103 (murder) of the BNS. When the police team reached hospital, Magar told them that Javanjal had called him around 8pm on Sept 8 and informed him that he had suffered injuries near his chest and requested to take him to a hospital. He claimed that Javanjal had called him to the room on Sept 8, and when he was in the washroom, he heard Javanjal’s scream.
He then claimed to have taken Javanjal to the hospital in an autorickshaw,” a police officer said. The police identified the deceased as Rahul Javanjal. “Magar then changed his statement when we took him to the room. He came out and saw Javanjal had stabbed himself. Javanjal fainted and fell down While taking him to a hospital on a scooter. The police interrogated Magar after his statement was found to have inconsistencies.
An officer from the Chandannagar police said they received a call from a private hospital in Kharadi on Sept 8 about the death of a man.
When Magar went to his room for the money, they had a heated argument, and Magar stabbed Javanjal after the latter allegedly abused him, the officer said, adding that investigation were on. The doctors informed the police that the victim’s friend claimed that Javanjal had died after falling on a sharp object inside his home. Magar then admitted to having stabbed Javanjal over a dispute involving Rs600, which the latter had not returned.
