The desktop keeps its thin all-in-one design, 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, and seven colour options. Apple is pitching the update around AI tasks, from using Siri AI in macOS 27 to running large language models locally. It also adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, plus 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet for faster wired connections. The M6 iMac comes with up to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, two more cores each than the previous generation. The GPU includes Neural Accelerators in each core, alongside a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s.
Apple has refreshed its iMac with the new M6 chip. The update adds up to two more CPU and GPU cores, faster storage, and improved wireless connectivity. Apple claims up to five times faster on-device AI performance than the M4 model.
The 4.5K Retina display offers 500 nits of brightness and P3 wide colour support. Connectivity includes up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports and supports up to two external 6K displays.
Apple says SSD read and write speeds are up to twice as fast as the previous generation. The iMac also includes a 12MP Center Stage camera that keeps users framed during video calls, plus Desk View to show your workspace.
