Agra: A 28-year-old police constable from Uttar Pradesh was discovered deceased on a staircase at the parade ground of Agra Police Lines on Saturday, according to police reports. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.

Earlier this week, a 30-year-old constable died by suicide in Ambedkar Nagar. His body was found in his room around 5.30am on Friday.

Further legal proceedings are underway,” Agra Police said in a statement. The constable, a native of Baghpat , was posted in Agra. Police recovered packets of aluminium phosphide (Celphos), a water bottle, a mobile phone, a purported suicide note and a pair of slippers from the spot, while the body was sent to the mortuary for post-mortem. A police team from Nai Mandi reached the spot after the incident, following which the constable’s family members were informed. “The situation at the spot is normal. The door was locked from inside and the incident came to light when a colleague arrived to collect the mess keys but received no response. The colleague informed officers, who broke open the door and found the body.
