Renowned Tamil scholar and pattimandram moderator solomon pappaiah cremated with state honours
Ministers C T R Nirmal Kumar and P Viswanathan, district collector Nishanth Krishna, city police commissioner S Rajendran, and MLA Madhar Badhurudeen paid their last respects to Pappaiah at the crematorium. They laid floral wreaths on behalf of the Tamil Nadu govt. Several officials, political leaders, and members of the public also gathered to pay their respects.
Madurai: Renowned Tamil scholar and pattimandram moderator Solomon Pappaiah, who died in Madurai on Friday, was cremated with full state honours at Thathaneri crematorium on Saturday.
Pappaiah, 90, was undergoing treatment for age-related illnesses when his health deteriorated and he died at a private hospital on Friday. Meanwhile, acting mayor of Madurai corporation T Nagarajan announced on Saturday that the corporation will name the street where Solomon Pappaiah lived after him.
