An employee of the American College in Madurai has been arrested in connection with cheating a man of Rs 16 lakh by assuring a job for his daughter in the college.
Madurai: An employee of the American College in Madurai has been arrested in connection with cheating a man of Rs 16 lakh by assuring a job for his daughter in the college. They sought Rs 45 lakh from Soman for the job. Soman paid Rs 15.75 lakh to them in various instalments in 2024. It may be recalled that in Aug, Anna Nagar police registered a case against four people, including former principal Davamani Christober, for cheating a man of Rs 24 lakh by promising a job in the college.
Thereafter, Daniel introduced Soman to Kalaiselvi and Vijayakumar, allegedly claiming that they were close to the former principal.
Soman approached Daniel after coming across an advertisement about recruitment of an assistant professor in the college, according to police. Based on a complaint from M Soman of Karaikudi, police registered a case against Kalaiselvi, her husband Vijayakumar , who is a temporary employee of the college, former principal (retired) M Davamani Christober and guest lecturer Daniel. However, no job was arranged for his daughter.
Police arrested Kalaiselvi on Thursday.
