Ballari: As a precautionary measure to maintain law and order during this year’s Ganesh festival, the district administration has banned the public installation of Ganesha idols in three sensitive villages of Ballari district.

The order, issued by deputy commissioner Nagendra Prasad K, applies to No.15 Gonala and No.10 Muddapur villages under Kampli police station limits and Honnalli village under Kudithini police station limits.

The villages continue to have a sensitive atmosphere, and the Superintendent of Police recommended the restriction to prevent any untoward incidents during the festivities, according to the order. Public entertainment programmes, processions and unnecessary gatherings have also been prohibited in the three villages for the duration of the festival. The order noted that excessive noise from DJ systems can adversely affect senior citizens, infants and young children, postpartum women, and people suffering from heart-related ailments.
