New Delhi: A Rs 30-lakh robbery in East Delhi ’s Krishna Nagar was cracked within eight hours, with police apprehending four accused, including two juveniles, and recovering around Rs 19.05 lakh of the stolen money.
On Saturday, police apprehended four accused: Deepak (20), the alleged mastermind; Umang alias Mangu alias Aman (22), who was previously involved in an FIR under the Arms Act; and two 17-year-olds.
Four scooter-borne men approached him from behind, robbed him of the bag and fled towards Vijay Chowk, according to his complaint. Jain told police that one of the assailants, who was riding pillion, had a bandaged hand. The incident took place when Sanjay Jain, a resident of Vivek Vihar Phase II, was on his way to his shop in Nehru Gali, Gandhi Nagar carrying a bag containing the amount. Police registered an FIR at Krishna Nagar police station. CCTV footage helped police trace the scooter allegedly used in the robbery, while informers were deployed to identify the accused. Deepak planned the robbery and shared information about the movement of the cash. During interrogation, the accused disclosed their respective roles, while police also found the involvement of another person identified as Kaif, who remains absconding.
Further investigation is underway to apprehend Kaif and recover the remaining cash.
