Kareena Kapoor Khan is making a strong case for archive fashion.
It’s about bringing a piece of fashion history back into the spotlight and making it feel completely at home in the present.
For the promotions of her upcoming film Darya, the actor stepped out in a vintage John Galliano ensemble from the designer’s Spring Summer 1999 collection. The John Galliano ensemble is from the designer’s Spring Summer 1999 collection, making it a genuine vintage fashion pull rather than a new piece designed to look retro. There’s something particularly interesting about seeing a look from the late ’90s styled for a 2026 promotional appearance.
Styled by Rhea Kapoor, the look brought together sharp tailoring, soft pink tones and just the right amount of glamour. And it was a very different kind of fashion moment for Kareena. The ensemble featured a baby-pink blazer with structured shoulders, shawl lapels and a statement bow detail at the front. The fitted silhouette came with full sleeves, button closures and a short hemline, giving the classic skirt suit a more contemporary feel. Kareena paired it with a matching scoop-neck top and a fitted pencil skirt that ended just around the knee. The result was polished, feminine and seriously sharp. The beauty of the look was in the details. The structured blazer gave the outfit a strong silhouette, while the soft pink shade kept it from feeling too formal. The pencil skirt followed the same fitted line, creating a clean, streamlined look from head to toe. She finished the outfit with embellished pointed heels from Rene Caovilla and jewellery from Amrapali Jewels, including diamond earrings and a striking statement ring. That oversized ring was hard to miss. But it worked with the rest of the look rather than overpowering it. Rhea Kapoor has styled Kareena for several of her recent appearances, and this time she went back more than two decades for inspiration. The tailoring still feels relevant, while the softer colour and fitted silhouette give it a distinctly modern edge. And Kareena carries it without making the clothes feel overwhelming. With the outfit already making a statement, Kareena kept her makeup polished and relatively understated. She wore glossy pink lips, feathered brows, shimmery pink eyeshadow, winged eyeliner and mascara-coated lashes. Soft contouring, flushed cheeks and highlighter added warmth to the look. Her hair was swept back with a side part and left loose over her shoulders. The overall styling was clean and elegant, allowing the vintage Galliano ensemble to remain the focus. Kareena has already been serving plenty of fashion moments during the Darya promotions, but this one stands out for a different reason. It isn’t about following a current trend.
